Roatan, Bay Islands

School was finally over, and being afraid vacations would end up quickly, we immediately started to look for options. Where to go? Which place could suit us perfectly? What type of adventure did we want to have?
Well, we wanted a place where we could relax, take some time for ourselves, a place that would fulfill our desires. Somewhere we could enjoy, forget about the worries, live the moment, luxuriate, appreciate, relish what the entire place could offer, a place where we can slack up just by the sound of its surroundings. Well, Roatan was definitely our best option with everything in our favor.

Roatan is the largest of the three main islands located in the Bay Islands, Honduras in the Caribbean Sea. It is a paradise, with the second largest coral reef barrier in the world and certainly has the best Honduran beaches. You can arrive to the island in the ferry, which is called “Galaxy “Wave” and only comes from Ceiba to Roatan, and via air. Roatan has an international airport with direct flights from Milan, Italy and the United States, as well as from mainland, Honduras. Roatan has many different types of entertainment, like canopy, snorkeling, scuba diving, water skating, kayak, among others. Unfortunately, Roatan has no movie theaters, but why would you want to go to the movies if you have the beach? If you can’t dive, then there are other type of activities like the glass boat, which is a boat with a glass bottom were you can see all the different coral reefs and fishes there are. But, if you can dive, there are several places where you can rent the equipment and accompany a group of your preference.

We can have many types of comfort and luxury, and just fancy ourselves. Luxurious hotels, exotic plants, amazing views, exquisite food, refreshing drinks, attentive people, adventurous experiences, everything just in one place. The food, made by local chefs, they are exquisite, the combination of colors and tastes. The variety of smells, that when you close your eyes you imagine that fresh, just made, fried fish and the red, juicy, fresh meat. The drastic changes of cuisines, from an Argentinean grill to Jamaican, and fancy, elegant restaurants with the most delicious lobster. The icy, granulated, refreshing, sweet and bitter drinks, which make you, feel non-thirsty. Every well-taken detail, that makes you feel comfortable, taken care of.

My family and I have enjoyed every single thing about Roatan, watching the dolphins at Anthony’s key, how their smooth skin reflects the brightness of the sun, while the deep blue is the background of these intelligent mammals. Snorkeling in West Bay, and look at those different kinds of colors and textures, the brilliant red, and the shiny gold with the transparency of the blue water and the yellow sun all over the place lightening every color and bringing the best attributes of the amazing view underwater. Just standing to appreciate everything, watching the landscapes, you don’t need a TV. it is beautiful.

Certainly Roatan is full of appearances and aspects to see. The picturesque tableaux, views that won’t let you just take a glimpse, but you must sit and admire all there is. The contrast of blues, the light blue with turquoise and deep dark blue, with the radiance and glow gives to these waters, and the beige almost brownish tones, mixed with the clearness of the water nearby the shore, amazing seascapes! When you walk on the beach, with the sand between your fingers and the water reaches your toes, the sun on your face, making your hair shine and the wind blowing it away. That makes you feel you are there, while this panorama reflects your beauty, when you stop and open your arms to feel the breeze, I capture that precious moment and the result will be the perfect magazine cover shot. Or when you look at the mountains, you can see the different greens perfectly and divinely combined and distributed along the mountains and ridges. The sunsets at the beach, you can see the orange yellowish match that color the beach and water while the cruise passes by West Bay, it is just amazing. Roatan, a paradise for all is simply perfect.
